Instagram has been taking a lot of heat recently because of their new features one of which is the ability to see who’s online or when was the last time someone opened Instagram. This feature is similar to the last seen feature of WhatsApp and users are not really happy about it.If you’re not happy with this new feature then don’t worry as there’s a way to tu it off. To tu it off you need to follow the following steps below.Open Instagram and go to your profile by clicking on the bottom right coer.From there tap on the three dots on the top right coer.Now scroll down until you see “Show Activity Status” and tap to disable it.That’s it. This will make sure that your friends can’t see when was the last time you opened Instagram. Do note that doing this will also prevent you from seeing other’s last seen so use it carefully. Microsoft today released Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 17095 to developers. This SDK can be used with Windows 10 Insider Build 17093 or later. And this release includes bug fixes and under development changes to the API surface area. The SDK is supported by Visual Studio 2017 and can work side-by-side with older SDKs.As you might have noticed in the recent SDK preview releases, this release also includes the C++/WinRT headers and cppwinrt compiler (cppwinrt.exe). This compiler comes in handy if you need to consume a third-party WinRT component or if you need to author your own WinRT components with C++/WinRT.The updated Preview SDK can be downloaded here. Google recently pushed a new update to Android Messages for Android Phones. This update bumped its version number to 2.9. This update comes with no major UI changes or major features for the app but gives us a lot of details about what Google is plaing. American chip manufacturer Qualcomm has officially aounced the Snapdragon x50 modem based on 5G technology. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are one of the most anticipated devices of this year and we know plenty about both the devices. Now according to a new leak shared by Korean publication ETNews, Samsung might be plaing to take on Apple with their own version 3D emoji.The leak also suggests that even though Samsung’s 3D emoji will work in a similar way as Apple, it will be far better in tracking facial movements and mimicking them. The leak also revealed that the device will come with Stereo speakers which will be mounted at the top and bottom of the device. Microsoft today aounced that they are acquiring Chalkup, a classroom collaboration platform. Educators & students from 1 in 3 universities and 1 in 5 high schools in the United States have used the Chalkup Class Collaboration Platform to engage and coect with their classes. As part of this deal, Chalkup’s co-founder Justin Chando is also joining Microsoft. Facebook has left no stones untued when it comes to copying features from Snapchat. Now it looks like the social media giant is rolling out a new feature for Instagram which is again a copy from Snapchat. The new feature will notify users if someone is taking screenshots of their stories.The new feature will send a popup saying the other person will be notified that you have taken the screenshot. If you thought this was the end of it then you’re wrong. Instagram will send notification if you take a screenshot of a photo someone sent you in private message. The app will send a notification saying that the other user has taken a screenshot of the photo you sent them. Both of the features are still rolling out and there’s a chance that you might not have got them yet.The good thing, however, is once this feature rolls out, you will get a waing message before the user is notified that you took a screenshot. There are some ways to prevent them from being notified as well. You can’t directly tu off this feature from the settings or something but if you tu on Airplane mode and then take a screenshot, the person won’t be notified. Microsoft recently rolled out a new update for Microsoft Launcher which included the integration of Cortana as well. However, there’s a small issue with Cortana, it’s available in a handful of countries only. This was the case until the folks at Windows United found out a workaround to use it in Germany.For this to work, you need to follow the following the steps:Press and hold the home screen until the selection menu opensSelect on Start ProgramGo to General SettingsChange the language from System to EnglishThis should change the language to English and Cortana should work for you. Once done you can pin the Cortana app to your home screen and use it. Microsoft on Sunday aounced that it is hiring Lindsay-Rae McIntyre, an IBM veteran as its next chief diversity officer (CDO). She recently held the role of Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President of HR, leading the diversity agenda globally for IBM. IBM last night aounced that they are suing Microsoft for poaching its chief diversity officer.According to the compliant IBM submitted the court, McIntyree had access to diversity data, strategies, methodologies and initiatives that are confidential, and that she “will use, rely on or divulge” these strategies in her new role at Microsoft. New York federal court agreed to hear IBM’s arguments and passed an order to prevent McIntyre from working for Microsoft until this case gets over.According to the statement released by IBM to Business Insider, McIntyre was at the center of highly confidential and competitively sensitive information that has fueled IBM’s success in these areas. We reported recently that the Bing app on Android now directed users to Google Maps, and speculated that Bing Maps may be next on the chopping block at Microsoft.Today we have another bit of evidence to add to the pile, as it appears Microsoft has withdrawn support for Windows 10 Mobile from their Bing Maps Web Control.This means if you are one of the rare few who use a Windows Phone and you come across a website with an embedded Bing Map you will only see a blank page.According to Ricky Brundritt, Senior Program Manager at Bing Map “support for Windows Phone as a whole (not just maps) started ending in January” and “Windows Phone was removed to align with Windows Phone as a whole no longer being supported by Microsoft.”As usual, Microsoft has decided not to properly communicate to users, but rather let their actions speak louder than their words and leave messaging to unofficial chaels such as Twitter and forum posts.While there are plenty of reasons for Microsoft not to invest supporting Windows Phone, the rather slipshod behaviour of the Bing Maps team suggests to me that they too may share Windows Phone’s fate soon.Thanks Wietse for the tip.

Blizzard has aounced that Overwatch will be free to play this weekend on consoles and PC. Anyone looking to try out the game will be able to play its full roster of heroes and maps.From February 16-19, those with an active Xbox Live Gold membership can jump into Overwatch for free. If you’re playing it on PC, just download Blizzard’s Battle.net client, sign up for a free account, and install the game from there. Pre-loading on Xbox One begins February 13.Its full roster of maps and heroes includes 16 locations spaing 4 game modes and 26 playable characters. The game modes are Assault, Escort, Control, and Assault/Escort Hybrid. You can choose to play against AI or challenge yourself against other players of similar skill.Players will have the ability to level up, ea loot boxes, and unlock a variety of different customization options. Snap is finally expanding to the desktop web from mobile, kinda sorta.The first step towards that appears to be a web-app for viewing stories on Snap maps. Much like when one is using the actual app, it only shows stories that you or your friends choose to post to the local story feed. You’ll be unable to see any of your friends snaps on there if you’re a current Snapchat user, and it’d be useless if that was your intention.Of course, it’s more likely that Snapchat intends non-users to use this app to view popular local stories, like say a concert nearby, or a festival in a park. If users find the concept of stories attractive, they’ll be more likely to download the app itself and give Snap more leverage for those sweet, sweet advertising dollars.Of course, there’s no reason why Snapchat can’t build a full web client. The firm is already halfway there with this partial web client, and it would bring Snapchat more in line with competitors like Instagram which offer the full experience on the web.For the moment though, you can access Snap maps from map.snapchat.com on your browser.

As the release of Redstone 4 approaches, Microsoft has been gearing up to prepare the first build for Redstone 5. According to Buildfeed, Microsoft has just compiled the first build of Redstone 5. This comes just after Microsoft created a new RS4_release branch which will serve as the official branch for RS4 releases starting next month.If you recall, Microsoft did the same thing as with RS4 last year. Once the Creators Update was almost ready, Microsoft started flighting RS4 builds to selected Insiders in Skip Ahead Ring. We expect the same to happen as Microsoft prepares for a global rollout of Redstone 4 next month.The current compiled build for RS5 branch is 17600 and it looks like this will be the first RS5 for Windows Insiders on Skip Ahead. The company has also added this information to the new language packages available on the Microsoft Store.While Microsoft hasn’t shared if they plan to rollout RS5 before the public rollout of RS4 but we do wish to see what Microsoft has in store for us this year.
